Photo of inventor of computer mouse and inventor of bioengineered rodent, each with their creationsMy concept was to bring together two inventors for a single photo: Doug Englebart, who had invented the computer mouse in 1965, and Mike McCune, who had bioengineered a special mouse for AIDS research. (Yes, that's Englebart's original: made of wood.) The photo, taken by Brian Smale, appeared in the September 1991 issue of Stanford Magazine.
